Manufactured Home Information

Manufactured homes have become one of the most popular choices of all types of home buyers.  These homes appeal especially to first time home buyers and retirees due their affordability, low maintenance, high quality structural standards, abundance of home choices and appealing manufactured home communities.

Contrary to what was once perceived as a lower caliber home, manufactured homes are set to the highest building code and performance standards. Manufactured Homes are constructed to meet or exceed the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development or HUD code. This code regulates manufactured home design and construction and homes attributes such as fire resistance, energy efficiency, air conditioning and electrical systems. Manufactured homes are built on a steel framework, called a “chassis,” and like modular homes, are built in sections and can be transported and be easily assembled.  In addition, they are developed to withstand the delivery process from the factory to the home site.

The manufactured homes of this day and age largely differ from that of what they once were originally.  Generally, manufactured homes come in one to two sections and are mostly one story although in some areas can be found in three to four sections as two story homes.  These homes can be placed on a basement or a blocking system that supports the chassis.  You will find that manufactured homes possess the same, if not more, features than you would find in a traditional stick built home and can be upgraded to the buyers liking.
