The term mobile home exclusively refers to factory built homes that were made before 1976 when the HUD code was enacted. Formerly called mobile homes or trailers, manufactured housing is now also known as prefabricated housing and has more style options available that in the past. The manufactured homes of this day and age largely differ from that of what they once were originally. Generally, manufactured homes come in one to two sections and are mostly one story although in some areas can be found in three to four sections as two story homes. These homes can be placed on a basement or a blocking system that supports the chassis.
